MARZ Commitment to Change the Industry Standard

MARZ Commitment to Talent and Industry

It all started when…

Struggling to find the words to describe the anxiety, and depression no longer existed. Safe spaces felt smaller and the #metoo movement brought light to the very issue models have faced for decades. Models living in silence seemed to be easier than finding words to define where their pain existed.

The life of a model can seem very inspiring and fun. The pressure gets worse and the fun and glamour fade away when Mental Health and Sexual assault exist.

“According to a 2012 survey conducted by the nonprofit the Model Alliance, about two-thirds of the models they spoke with said they’ve been pressured to lose weight, more than two-thirds of respondents said they suffered from anxiety or depression, and eating disorders were “not uncommon.” (Source: Backstage.com)

By working with MARZ our clients and team make a commitment to protect, voice, and inspire others to call out the issues that plague our society.

“1 in 4 women has experienced rape or attempted rape during their lifetimes, according to several national U.S. surveys. 1 in 8 people “had someone threaten to post and/or post sexually explicit images of them without their consent,” according to a 2017 study by the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI). Women were almost twice as likely to be the targets of nonconsensual pornography (NCP) than men.” (Source: metoomvmnt.org)

With our dedication to making an everlasting change, we have committed to partner with local therapist, counselors, and healthcare members to ensure our talent have a place to report and submit for their protection.

Why is Mental Health Important?

Taking care of your mental health and physical health is just as important as getting the first gig you’ve always wanted. Learning how you see yourself and what self-love looks like ultimately increases the confidence you show through networking, print, and on the runway. Some ways MARZ promotes mental health advocacy would include: affirmation bundles, monthly mental health check-ins, resource list, meditation, group ice breakers, goal planning, and much more.

No Drug Policy

MARZ prohibits all models from manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, possessing, or using an illegal drug in or on company premises or while conducting company business. MARZ models are also prohibited from misusing legally prescribed or over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. Law enforcement personnel may be notified, as appropriate, when criminal activity is suspected.
